Institute of Forensic Science Building Replacement - NOW OPEN

The Institute of Forensic Science facility was located in the heart of the Parkland Hospital and UT Southwestern Medical School campus. The Institute included two sections: the Medical Examiner and the Crime Laboratory. The building was originally built in the late 1960's, and later renovated in the early 1980's. The facility provided approximately 50,000 square feet and had very limited access such as parking and visitor's areas.

The new facility is located at 2355 Stemmons Freeway, adjacent to the County's Health & Human Services Building.

111,907 square feet (over double the square feet in the previous space)

Cost:  $46 million

Completion Date:  May 2011
