Merritt Road – Sachse City Limit to Pleasant Valley Intersection

Description: A newly constructed four lane divided concrete roadway from just west of the PBGT up through the Pleasant Valley intersection. This now connects to the improved section that runs through the City of Rowlett.

Cost and Funding:
Total project cost is $4,000,000. Dallas County and the City of Sachse each contributed $2,380,000 for the project. 

Current Status:
A construction contract was awarded to Ed Bell Construction in February 2013, and the construction was complete in the Fall 2014.

Sachse Road

Description, Cost, Funding, & Status:There is a plan to improve the entire roadway from 5th Street @ SH78 down to Sachse Road, and then moving easterly all the way to the Sachse City Limits near Muddy Creek. This project will be phased as follows and dependent upon funding: Estimated cost are listed under each phase:

Phase 1: 5th Street @ SH78 to Sachse Road; Sachse Road @ 5th Street to Miles Road (includes Roundabout)

Total estimated cost: $5,640,000

Funding Source: Dallas County $3,350,000 / City of Sachse $4,200,000

Status: In design stage with Huitt-Zollars. Goal is to open bids for construction in late 2016, with estimated construction completion date in late 2018.

Phase 2: Bridge at Muddy Creek (Sachse Road Bridge) to City Limit Line (includes Sachse & Wylie within Dallas County).

Total estimated cost: $9,170,000

Funding Source: Any remaining dollars from Phase 1, plus future Call For Project dollars from County & future Bond Elections for cities

Status: In design stage with Huitt-Zollars. Complete funding has not been identified, however if the cities of Sachse & Wylie do identify funding, the goal would be to open the bids in late 2018, with estimated construction completion by mid 2020.

Phase 3: Miles Road to Woodbridge Pkwy (will include newly realigned Merritt to tie into Woodbridge)

Total estimated cost: $10,000,000

Phase 4: Woodbridge Pkwy to Bridge at Muddy Creek (Sachse Road Bridge) – Sachse City Limit

Total estimated cost: $4,500,000

No funding has been identified at this time.

ALL PHASES WILL INCLUDE 4 LANE DIVIDED CONCRETE STREET WITH CURB, TURN LANES, MEDIAN OPENINGS, AND 6-10 FEET SIDEWALKS TO TIE INTO THEIR TRAIL SYSTEM, PLUS STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM.
