Dallas County Replacement Housing Program

The Dallas County Replacement Housing Program pays for the replacement of a home that has significant structural damage and/or deterioration. The program is funded through federal and state CDBG (Community development Block Grant) funds and is specifically for rural areas, or cities below a 50,000 population. There are several cities in Dallas County that qualify: Cockrell Hill, Desoto, Wilmer, Hutchins, Seagoville, and Balch Springs. To qualify for the program you must own the property, must have lived in the home for the past 5 years, with no liens or judgments against the property, your property taxes must be current or be on a formal payment plan, and your total household income must not exceed HUD's (US Department of Housing &Urban Development) definition of low/moderate income.
One family in Cockrell Hill recently took advantage of the Dallas County Replacement Housing Program and will be in their new home for the Holiday Season. Dr. Elba Garcia was there to present them with the keys to their new home.
