DCHHS explains Chikungunya virus

DCHHS kicked off its 2015 information and education campaigns on Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) and West Nile virus. DCHHS is urging Dallas County residents to take notice.

In an interview on WFAA-8, Microbiologist Spencer Lockwood explained several differences between both viruses, such as mosquito habits and traps DCHHS uses for mosquito surveillance. Medical Director/Health Authority Dr. Christopher Perkins also discussed CHIKV from a medical perspective.
