Elected in 2000, Judge Luis Sepulveda, took office January 1, 2001. The Judge presides over an extremely busy court and has overseen thousands of civil, small claims and traffic cases since taking office. Judge Sepulveda firmly believes in a “People’s Court” and encourages his constituents to use the court system to sort out legal disagreements. He has had over 280 hours of class room Study of law at Texas State University in San Marcus, Texas at the Texas Justice Court Training Center.

The Judge was born in Dallas and has made this area his lifelong home, raising three children with his wife of 33 years. He devoted his life to environmental issues and coaching baseball to young, west Dallas children.

Judge Sepulveda is a Community leader and President of the West Dallas Coalition for Environmental Justice, which he founded in 1989. He is also the co-founder of the West Dallas Baseball Team and the Latin-American Baseball Association and has served on the Board of Directors for several organizations including the Dallas County Hospital District, Texas United Environmental Organization, President of the West Dallas Coalition, The Arcadia Community Counsel and the City of Dallas Library Board.

Judge Sepulveda has received several awards including the National Environmental Award and Greater Dallas Legal Community Development Foundation, the Greater Dallas Community Relations Committee Award and the Zapata Award, and has testified before the U.S. Congress on environmental issues. He has written for the Environmental Action Magazine, the West Dallas Toxic Times, and is currently working on a book about his work on the environment. One of his most rewarding acts was addressing the congress in Washington, D.C. on Environmental Justice Hearing Series 102-108.
