Court Assessment Unit
Youth detained pending Court receive comprehensive, in-depth assessments to determine the youth’s and family’s strengths, weaknesses, and needs from the Court Assessment Unit. Staff perform interviews with the youth, family, school officials, victims, police, and other collateral agencies in order to obtain a well-rounded analysis of the juvenile. Written court reports are then completed, including dispositional recommendations for the Court to consider when deciding the case. Social Evaluations and Investigative Reports are also completed by this unit when the circumstances of the alleged offense are so serious that consideration is being given to transfer the juvenile to the adult court system.
