COTTONWOOD CREEK PRESERVE

WILMER (SE Dallas County) East end Cottonwood Valley Road

Parking:

Designated natural surface parking area or park at the end of the park road.  

Improvements:

Entrance, picnic facilities, and parking are in design phase and will be open mid-summer 2001.  

Trails:

2 – mile natural surface trail follows the creek, crosses the creek via a foot bridge and returns to starting point.

Special Note:

Footbridge was washed away during the June 2004 floods. It is being rebuilt as an Eagle Scout Project. Please be patient.

History:

The original owners grazed cattle, farmed and grew pecan trees on the property.  They desired that part of the homestead remain as nearly like it was in the late 1870’s and offered the land to the County for a preserve.
