POST OAK PRESERVE

SEAGOVILLE (SE Dallas County) Bowers Road/South of D.I.S.D. Environmental Education Center

Parking:

Generous parking for private cars and school buses.

Improvements:

An ADA trail, parking lot and picnic facilities have been added to this outdoor teaching lab.

Trails:

2 and 3/4 miles of interlocking natural surface trails are present in addition to the .7 mile ADA trail.

History:

This is the last large stand of a Post Oak savannah that once stretched through this part of the County.  The Dallas Independent School District uses the Preserve as an outdoor classroom.  You are welcome to listen to lectures that are being conducted should you encounter a class in progress during your visit.

Special Note:

There is an opportunity for at least one Eagle Scout Project at this preserve. A parking lot on Sego Road is being considered; a trail needs to be blazed from this parking lot to the Creek side and a trail on the Bowers Road side of the Preserve.

Restricted Uses:

No bicycles except on Saturday and Sunday on paved trail only on paved trail only. NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES OF ANY KIND.
