Trail and Preserve Program
Trails for the 21st Century

preston ridge trail

In 2000, Dallas County began actively working towards creating a compre- hensive trail system that would connect major residential areas, employment centers, and recreational facilities that would enable people to walk, bike, run or skate from one end of the County to another without the need of a car.

Since this effort began, the County has helped construct about twenty-three miles of new trail in Dallas, Irving, Richardson, DeSoto, Mesquite, Lancaster, Sachse, and Wylie that connect with another thirty-five

miles of existing trail.

The County is now in the process of constructing an additional nine miles of new trail in Irving, Richardson, and Dallas and designing another ten miles in Garland, Richardson, Dallas, and Irving.
