The Dallas County Public Defender's Office, upon appointment by the court, provides services in the following cases:

• Defense of individuals in actions charging contempt of court for alleged failure to pay child support
• Defense of individuals in actions charging contempt of court for an alleged violation of a court order that is unrelated to child support
• Defense of individuals in actions to terminate an individual's parental rights
• Representation of minor children in private child custody disputes
• Representation of minor children in actions brought by a child protective services agency alleging abuse or neglect

The Dallas County Public Defender's Office does not represent individuals in the following areas:

• Motions to modify child support
• Motions to modify custody and visitation orders
