[Dallas, TX] – [Dallas County employees are holding a fundraiser for comrade and fellow employee John Langley, Fleet Manager for Dallas County. Langley, a 54-yr-old Mesquite resident, was stricken by West Nile Virus last July. After about a month in critical condition, Langley spent four additional months in the ICU. Although home now, Langley’s recovery has taken an emotional, physical and financial toll on him and his family. Because Langley still has limited mobility and requires the use of a ventilator and feeding tube, he is unable to work and has exhausted many of his benefits and income. Though Langley will begin receiving Dallas County disability coverage this month, it will only pay about 66% of his salary. Dallas County Senior Administrators have given Langley’s department permission to reach out to county employees and the community for donations and assistance with the fundraiser. Dallas County is proud to announce the employee-organized Fundraiser: “The Benefit for John Langley”. ]
This morning, Dallas County Commissioners Court was informed by Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) that insured families were experiencing difficulties in finding available flu vaccine for their children in Dallas County.
