JFK REMEMBERANCE SERVICE EVENT
In preparation for the remembrance of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the County has made November 22, 2013 a County holiday. Based on the attention focused on this event in Dallas County next week, security will be extremely high.
All County offices in the downtown building complexes (Records, Administration, Old Red and George Allen) will need to end their work day no later than 4:30 PM sharp on Thursday, November 21, 2013 and all employees are asked to immediately leave the building and exit the County parking garages so a security sweep can begin. Any vehicles left in the County downtown parking garages after 6:00 PM will be towed, NO EXCEPTIONS.
There will be NO access to any downtown County buildings until the conclusion of the event late in the afternoon of Friday, November 22, 2013. All streets and sidewalks within the perimeter of the event will be closed by order of the Dallas Police department on Friday, November 22nd. There will be a number of street closures and changes in traffic patterns next week. Please check the City of Dallas website for more specific information on road closures.
There will also be challenges with parking in the private lot behind the County Administration Building.
Dallas County will offer vouchers for County employees who park in this lot. This voucher will allow employees to park in the Records Building parking garage at the same rate from November 18 ‐21. Vouchers will be available on the 2nd floor of County Administration beginning Thursday, November 14, 2013. Employees will need to produce County Identification in order to receive a voucher.
In case of emergency please call Security’s main number: 214‐653‐7000. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO COME TO ANY OF THE DOWNTOWN COUNTY BUILDINGS DURING THE EVENT.
We appreciate all of your cooperation. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact County Administration.
