Dallas County Employee John Langley Continues Dramatic Recovery From
West Nile: Employees Hold Fundraiser

[Dallas, TX] – [Dallas County employees are holding a fundraiser for comrade and fellow employee John Langley, Fleet Manager for Dallas County.  Langley, a 54-yr-old Mesquite resident, was stricken by West Nile Virus last July.  After about a month in critical condition, Langley spent four additional months in the ICU.  Although home now, Langley’s recovery has taken an emotional, physical and financial toll on him and his family.  Because Langley still has limited mobility and requires the use of a ventilator and feeding tube, he is unable to work and has exhausted many of his benefits and income.  Though Langley will begin receiving Dallas County disability coverage this month, it will only pay about 66% of his salary.  Dallas County Senior Administrators have given Langley’s department permission to reach out to county employees and the community for donations and assistance with the fundraiser.  Dallas County is proud to announce the employee-organized Fundraiser: “The Benefit for John Langley”. ]

We are asking the media to help us bring desperately needed assistance to this family by broadcasting, beginning today, the Langley story and informing the public about their option to make donations if they can’t attend the fundraiser!

County Judge Clay Jenkins was moved by the way county employees and the community has mobilized and reiterated the importance of the work we do as a county to both combat the spread of West Nile and to support our own, saying “John Langley is an excellent and dedicated county employee. The West Nile Virus is a terrible disease that caused severe permanent injuries to many and infected over 398 people, causing 19 deaths in Dallas County. Seeing someone on the county team stricken by this disease underscores the seriousness of the threat, the importance of the actions taken to mitigate it and the need for continued vigilance. Our prayers and well wishes go out to John Langley and his family during this traumatic time.”

Organizers invite the public and all Dallas County employees to come on down!  Put your dancing shoes on and bring an appetite; there will be Entertainment, Door Prizes, Silent Auction, games, and much much more!  Music by the J.D. Monson Band.

If you can’t be there in person, please call (see #s below) or go online to make a donation at: http://www.doublestexasbbq.com/benefit-for-john-langley/.
