Welcome to the Property Division of the Dallas County Public Works Department. The Property Division is one of four main divisions that make up the Dallas County Public Works Department. The Property Division is responsible for real estate acquisition and/or conveyance functions that involve the purchase of private property for a Dallas County Government need or the conveyance/exchange of county owned land/title interests to private owners, other government entities or third party owners. Under this responsibility the primary function of the Property Division is to acquire land for right of way purposes on County thoroughfare transportation improvement projects.

All real estate transactions are processed by the Property Division in strict compliance with the Dallas County Real Estate Policy (the Policy) and the various State regulations that must be followed including federal laws/regulations which govern on federally funded projects. The Property Division administers the Policy in a consistent and fair means within these rights of all persons under Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI) and 1968 (Title VIII), (P.L. 90-284).

An additional responsibility of the Property Division is to maintain an inventory of County owned property. Under this responsibility the Property Management section manages and coordinates disposition of tax foreclosure properties struck off to Dallas County at the Sheriff's Sale. Based on the number and nature of the properties within the inventory, a sale via a sealed bid procedure may be scheduled each quarter of the fiscal year. These tax resales are conducted in conformance with the Dallas County Tax Foreclosure Resale Policy and the Property Tax Code, Section 34.05.

If you have any questions about tax resales, please check our FAQ section for answers. For additional information, please contact Pam Easterling.

The Property Division is headed by the Assistant Director of Public Works, Selas Camarillo, P.E., R.P.L.S., who can be reached at 214-653-6400. The support staff is comprised of thirteen employees and is divided into four sections: Administration; Property Acquisition Section; Property Appraisal Section; and Property Management Section.
