Our Mission is to improve the quality of life of our customers by effectively planning, developing, implementing and administering approved regional transportation projects. In fulfilling that mission, we envision ourselves becoming a recognized leader in regional transportation planning and coordination, an effective agent and valued partner for our cities, and a vital part of Dallas County government. Our values are centered on being Respected, Responsive & Reliable in all our relationships.

The Public Works Department has a significant role to play in the unique and exciting environment of Dallas County . Our cities need us to be proactive leaders, since we have the perspective of the whole County. Our customers -- the citizens and transportation users -- need us to assure we have the County and region-wide transportation picture in focus. Since 1999, these five Goals outlined in our Strategic Plan have been guiding us towards this vision.  They are a perfect fit for the County's 5-fold vision expressed in Dallas County's approved Strategic Plan, Charting the Path, 25 September 2007.
