For your information here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions and their Responses on doing business with Dallas County Purchasing.

 

 

1. When can I see a buyer?

 

 

8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday

 

 

* Appointments are not required, but heavy work schedules make them advisable.

 

 

2. How do I get on the vendor's list?

 

 

Complete the DALLAS COUNTY PURCHASING VENDOR INFORMATION form. This form must be completed in full in order to add your company to the vendors database.

 

 

FEDERAL TAX ID# must be entered in the space provided (MANDATORY).

 

 

So that our staff may be aware of those commodities and/or services that your company may provide, please be as specific as possible in describing those commodities and/or services. This will also determine the accuracy of the solicitations extended to your firm.

 

 

NOTE: Submit any additional information regarding your firm under separate cover to the appropriate Buyer.

 

 

Please return the completed form by mail or Fax (214-653-7878). Your company and its commodity/service profile will be entered into the suppliers database. For Sealed Bids, notices of upcoming bid opportunities will be sent by mail advising how to obtain a bid package.

4. What is a sealed bid?

 

 

A formal written request for supplies, services or equipment with an estimated purchase price in excess of $50,000.00 . State Law requires sealed bids to be advertised for two weeks prior to the Opening Date.

 

 

5. Where and when are sealed bids advertised?

 

 

The Daily Commercial Record - Mondays

 

 

6. Where are sealed bids opened?

 

 

Generally on Mondays at 2:00 p.m. in the Dallas County Purchasing Department unless otherwise posted or advertised.

 

 

7. Who can attend bid openings?

 

 

Company Representatives and the general public are always welcome at Sealed Bid Openings unless otherwise posted or advertised.

 

 

* Sealed Proposals under Dallas County's High Tech purchasing policies are not publicity opened.

 

 

8. Who will see my prices?

 

 

All bids are public record the moment they are opened except for Insurance or High Technology bids and other exempted bids. Copies of Bid Tabulations are kept on file for public viewing.

 

 

9. Late Bids

 

 

Dallas County does not accept late bids. Bids must reach the Purchasing Department no later than the advertised acceptance time. The clock in the Purchasing Department is considered the Official Time.
