First elected by the Dallas County voters in November 1988 and sworn into office in January 1989, Mr. Childs was re-elected in 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004.
Article VIII of the Texas Constitution provides for the Tax Assessor-Collector. It is the responsibility of the County Tax Assessor-Collector to assess and collect taxes on all property in the county for the county and for other taxing jurisdictions by contract. The Tax Assessor-Collector also oversees vehicle titles and registration.
