City of Balch Springs Modern Roundabout

Balch Springs Modern Roundabout at Intersection of Belt Line Road, Pioneer Road, and Eastgate Drive

Roundabouts are becoming more common in Texas because they provide safer and more efficient traffic flow than standard intersections.  By keeping traffic moving one-way in a counterclockwise direction, there are fewer conflict points and traffic flows smoothly.

When compared to other types of intersection controls crash statistics show that roundabouts reduce the number of:

  • Fatal crashes by about 90%*
  • Injury crashes by about 75%**
  • Overall crashes by about 35%**
