President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) - Eastern Extension

Project Description:
The President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) Eastern Extension is a 9.9 mile piece of the outer loop that will connect I-30 to the existing PGBT. It is part of the Loop 9/State Highway 190 envisioned in the 1960s. Eastern Extension will pass through Garland, Sachse, Rowlett, and includes a one-mile bridge over Lake Ray Hubbard (Dallas).

The Eastern Extension originally received environmental clearance from the Federal Highway Administration in January 2005, giving approval to begin design and construction. However, a Re-evaluation was required and on July 1, 2008, the Re-Evaluation was approved by FHWA.

 

Cost and Funding:
$1.04 billion.  Funding partners include NTTA ($607 m), TXDOT ($413 m), Garland ($9.1 m), Rowlett ($5.4 m), and Sachse ($585,000).

Murphy Road -Camplbell/ Blackburn to SH 78 - COMPLETED

Lead Agency:
Dallas County

Description:
Replace 2 lanes of asphalt with 4 lanes of concrete with a continuous left-turn lane.

Cost and Funding:
Estimated project cost is $6.3 million.  Dallas County and the City of Sachse will share the cost 50/50.

Current Status:
The construction contract was awarded to JRJ Paving, L.P. in the amount of $4,4 million on January 21, 2009.  Actual construction began in February 2009, and was completed August 2010.

Murphy Road @ Campbell Road COMPLETED– Intersection

Cost and Funding:
The project total was $2.1 million.

Dallas County contributed approximately $1 million, while the City of Sachse paid $1 million plus some additional dollars for a few added items.

Current Status:
A construction contract was awarded in January 2006, and the project was completed in the fall of 2006.

Merritt Road – Sachse City Limit to Pleasant Valley Intersection

Description:

A four lane divided concrete roadway from just west of the PBGT up through the Pleasant Valley intersection. This will connect to the improved section that runs through the City of Rowlett.

 

Cost & Funding:

Total project cost is $4M. Dallas County will contribute $1.4 million and the City of Sachse will provide $2.5 million

 

Current Status:

Under design with an estimated completion date of December 2013.

Description:

An expansion from 2 lanes to 3 lanes from the Sachse city limit to the Dallas County line.

 

Cost & Funding:

The County and city were originally planning to share the cost but TxDOT ended up funding entire project.

 

Current Status:

Completed in 2011.
