On behalf of the Dallas County Commissioners Court, I would like to welcome you to the official website of Dallas County, Texas. As the ninth largest county in the country and second most populace in the state, Dallas County is home to over 2.4 million residents. With the City of Dallas as its hub, the County includes over 20 suburban cities and towns, all within minutes to downtown. Our goal in serving our residents and visitors is to continue to maintain Dallas County as a great place to live, work, and play.

For the residents of Dallas County, we provide a variety of services and resources distinct to our local government structure. From motor vehicle registrations with the Tax Assessors Office to childhood immunizations with Health and Human Services to passports with the District Clerk's Office, Dallas County offices and departments offer convenient and efficient access, in person and online, for those citizens looking to conduct business with us.

Each year, millions of visitors arrive in Dallas County, here to enjoy our multitude of social, cultural, historical, and athletic amenities. Central to the daily work of the County, our administrative offices are located in the former Texas School Book Depository, also home of the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza. The building is adjacent to the Dealey Plaza Historical District, designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1993.

Home to nationally-recognized research institutions like the University of Texas-Southwestern and the University of Texas-Dallas, Fortune 500 firms such as Texas Instruments, Kimberly-Clark, and Southwest Airlines, major distribution centers for Frito-Lay and Wal-Mart, national and regional operations centers for JP Morgan Chase, Nokia, and Capital One, and an active and innovative small business community, Dallas County continues to support and encourage the robust economic growth that has occurred here over the past thirty years.

We hope that you find this to be a valuable resource in learning more about the County's local government functions, services and resources. Again, welcome to Dallas County, the IT place to be!

    Best regards,

    Darryl Martin
