County Criminal Courts

Minimum Health Protocols for the Frank Crowley Courts Building

The Criminal District Court Judges and the County Criminal Court Judges acknowledge that Dallas County requires all persons on County Property to wear a face mask. The current Dallas County policy is as follows: The CDC recommends that people wear masks anytime they will be around other people outside of their immediate household, including in public buildings and offices. The Governor’s recent executive order allows businesses and other establishments to require employees or customers to wear a mask. To reduce the spread of COVID-19 and to protect our employees and guests, Dallas County will continue to require all employees and guests to wear a mask while they are on county property. Wearing a face covering is not a substitute for maintaining 6-feet social distancing and hand washing, as these remain important steps to slowing the spread of the virus.

The Criminal District Court Judges and County Criminal Court Judges, being aware virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to others by infected persons who have few or no symptoms, hereby adapt the Dallas County Policy for the Courtrooms in the Frank Crowley Courts Building.

The Courtroom guidelines are as follows:

  1. Individuals must wear a face covering in all courtrooms in the Frank Crowley Courthouse.
  2. Face masks/coverings must be worn by all persons who have a conversation within six (6) feet of each other.
  3. The requirement of a face covering does not apply if covering the nose and mouth poses a significant mental or physical health risk to the individual. If you are unable to wear a face covering due to a medical condition, please notify the Judge of the Court.
  4. SOCIAL DISTANCING PROTOCOLS. Even with the use of appropriate face coverings, individuals should maintain six feet of social distancing whenever possible.
  5. VIOLATIONS. Individuals who do not wear a face covering on County property will be reported to Dallas County Building Security. Individuals who do not wear a face covering in the courtroom will be subject to removal and may be subject to contempt of court.

* Notice of these minimum health protocols will be posted in conspicuous locations throughout the building. *
