Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Guidance for Schools

On March 29, 2020 Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins stated that public, charter, and private schools and institutions of higher learning are ordered to provide a safety plan to Dallas County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management 72 hours prior to students returning to a classroom setting. The attached plan includes details for sanitation/disinfection, scheduling, and safety measures for all persons on any campus.

We know each educational campus or institute has its own challenges and risks. With this in mind, we recognize that you are in the best position to assess and mitigate the risks to your campus and those that come in contact with your facility. We also recognize that all decisions will be made with the “best” practices in mind and will be guided by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

All plans for all schools should be submitted by email to school.reentry@dallascounty.org.  Please allow 3 business days for review. If we have any questions or comments, we will reach out to you for clarification. Once the review is completed, we will return your plan to you and may include added suggestions.
