Citizen Prosecutor Academy

The Dallas County Citizen Prosecutor Academy is a popular program for those interested in learning more about the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office. During this free 11-week course, 40 individuals get acquainted with multiple divisions within the office, including:

  • Mental Health
  • Child Abuse
  • Family Violence
  • Specialized
  • Animal Cruelty
  • Appellate
  • Civil
  • Grand Jury/Intake
  • Organized Crime
  • Juvenile
  • Reformative Justice
  • Checks
  • Misdemeanor
  • Conviction Integrity

Further, CPA Participants go on two field trips during their time in the Academy to the Lew Sterrett County Jail, and the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science. CPA participants walk away from the Academy with a better understanding of the criminal prosecution process, and an in-depth knowledge of the inner-workings of the District Attorney’s Office.
