Extraterritorial Jurisdiction Agreements
Areas immediately adjacent to but, outside of city boundaries are called the “extraterritorial jurisdiction” or a city’s “ETJ”. The regulation of such areas is shared with Dallas County through Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) agreements. In some instances, such areas are regulated by Major Capital Improvement Program (MCIP) agreements.
If you have questions regarding any of these agreements, please contact the respective city or Dallas County at 214-653-6565.
