In 1987, he joined the Texas Department of Public Safety- Highway Patrol and graduated from the DPS Academy as a State Trooper. After 7 years as a patrolman, he entered the promotional process. He continued in the promotional process all the way up through the ranks of Highway Patrol Major, Regional Commander, commanding over 600 troopers.<\/p>\n<p>In 2011, he added another career accomplishment when he attended and graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantic, Va.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014, he was inducted into the Garland Sports Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014, he retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Highway Patrol Major with 28 years of service and became a member of the Special Texas Rangers Service.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014, he took on another career in the oil and gas industry, serving as the Regional Safety Officer for Basic Energy Services.
