The Traffic Unit is responsible not only for enforcing traffic laws but also for investigating accidents that occur.\u00a0 These deputies also patrol the unincorporated areas of Dallas County.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the deputy\u2019s enforcement action is to educate the violator in an effort to gain voluntary compliance with traffic laws and ordinances. Enforcement action does not provide the deputy a privilege to scold, belittle, berate, or otherwise verbally reprimand a traffic violator. The deputy\u2019s actions shall demonstrate a professional attitude and serve to improve the relationship between the motoring public and law enforcement officers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section class='av_toggle_section av-luvkwhle-fa35434e5ef118e817836424192c6640'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div role=\"tablist\" class=\"single_toggle\" data-tags=\"{All} \"  ><p data-fake-id='#toggle-id-2' class='toggler   av-inherit-font-color hasCustomColor'  itemprop=\"headline\"  role='tab' tabindex='0' aria-controls='toggle-id-2'>Vehicle Crimes Unit<span class=\"toggle_icon\"><span class=\"vert_icon\"><\/span><span class=\"hor_icon\"><\/span><\/span><\/p><div id='toggle-id-2' class='toggle_wrap  '  ><div class='toggle_content invers-color av-inherit-font-color hasCustomColor'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>The Vehicular Crimes Unit responds to and investigates traffic collisions involving fatalities, serious or potentially life-threatening injuries, and hit-and-run accidents.\u00a0 The Dallas County Deputies are trained investigators to respond to and investigate offenses or incidents that involve motor vehicles. In 2023, they responded to and investigated more than 60 fatality crashes.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section class='av_toggle_section av-luvkwxkw-1490332c1e3e8ed162b101e3e81d00bd'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div role=\"tablist\" class=\"single_toggle\" data-tags=\"{All} \"  ><p data-fake-id='#toggle-id-3' class='toggler   av-inherit-font-color hasCustomColor'  itemprop=\"headline\"  role='tab' tabindex='0' aria-controls='toggle-id-3'>High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Unit<span class=\"toggle_icon\"><span class=\"vert_icon\"><\/span><span class=\"hor_icon\"><\/span><\/span><\/p><div id='toggle-id-3' class='toggle_wrap  '  ><div class='toggle_content invers-color av-inherit-font-color hasCustomColor'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>A\u00a0<b>high-occupancy vehicle lane<\/b>\u00a0(also known as an\u00a0<b>HOV lane<\/b>\u00a0a <b>carpool lane<\/b>\u00a0is a restricted\u00a0traffic lane\u00a0reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles with a driver and at least one passenger, including\u00a0carpools,\u00a0vanpools, and\u00a0transit\u00a0buses. These restrictions may be only imposed during\u00a0peak travel times or may apply at all times. Here are some other SRO duties:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section-2\">\n<p><strong>Safety plan development:<\/strong> Schools have safety protocols in place to ensure students and staff are safe from harm. SRO duties include helping in developing best practices and then conducting drills &#8211; such as active shooter drills &#8211; for students and teachers to help prepare for the potential of a hostile threat to the school.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"desktop-only-min-height-90 ad-unit inline-ad\" data-ad-unit-name=\"lowline-desktop\" data-page-index=\"0\" data-ad-id=\"Leaf3\" data-is-refreshable=\"true\">\n<div id=\"Leaf3\" data-has-intersected=\"true\" data-google-query-id=\"CMnQv_S9x4UDFdTnlAkdRiUEsQ\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/36117602\/hnp-chron.com\/article_leaf_6__container__\"><strong>Internal dispute mediation:<\/strong>\u00a0Any\u00a0<strong>school resource officer is<\/strong>\u00a0one of the first lines of interaction in terms of breaking up fights and de-escalating aggression between students or between students and staff. Some officers are trained in dispute mediation and may be able to help parties talk through differences.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section-4\">\n<p><strong>Detention and arrests:<\/strong> If a student is caught breaking the law &#8211; drinking or using drugs, bringing a weapon to school or making threats, part of a resource officer&#8217;s job description may be to detain or arrest the offender. Lesser infractions may be remanded to the principal or vice principal for punishment, such as detention or suspension.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section-5\">\n<p><strong>Personal and property searches:<\/strong>\u00a0Any\u00a0<strong>school resource officers<\/strong> who have reason to suspect a student is breaking the law may be involved in conducting a physical search, such as a backpack, vehicle, or locker search.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section-6\">\n<p><b>School patrols: A resource officer&#8217;s job description also includes paroling school grounds, ensuring safety, looking for broken fencing and unlocked doors or gates, viewing video and closed-circuit TV security monitors, and watching for strangers or suspicious activity in or around campus.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section-7\">\n<p><strong>Advanced safety functions:<\/strong>\u00a0SRO duties may include supervising metal detectors in schools, staffing special events where large crowds are anticipated, and even directing foot and auto traffic when necessary.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section-8\">\n<p><strong>Law enforcement education:<\/strong>\u00a0School resource officers may give assembly presentations on subjects including school safety, the dangers of drug abuse and bullying, and online safety tips. SRO duties may also include being called upon to educate teachers and staff about various safety precautions and dangers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section-9\">\n<p>It&#8217;s also in a resource officer&#8217;s job description to help protect against theft and property damage, assist in medical emergencies, and reduce the incidence of 911 calls from schools to emergency personnel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section class='av_toggle_section av-luvl1485-b6e5ef4f25181869bfca47a308d505c6'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div role=\"tablist\" class=\"single_toggle\" data-tags=\"{All} \"  ><p data-fake-id='#toggle-id-9' class='toggler   av-inherit-font-color hasCustomColor'  itemprop=\"headline\"  role='tab' tabindex='0' aria-controls='toggle-id-9'>North Texas Auto Theft Task Force<span class=\"toggle_icon\"><span class=\"vert_icon\"><\/span><span class=\"hor_icon\"><\/span><\/span><\/p><div id='toggle-id-9' class='toggle_wrap  '  ><div class='toggle_content invers-color av-inherit-font-color hasCustomColor'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>The North Texas Auto Theft Task Force (NTATTF) is a multi-agency operation governed by the Motor Vehicle Crimes Prevention Authority and funded through the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles.\u00a0 The NTATTF comprises experienced detectives who combat auto theft, vehicle burglary, and vehicle fraud.\u00a0 This is accomplished by investigating, arresting, prosecuting, recovering stolen vehicles, and raising public awareness. The NTATTF offers 68A inspections and conducts business inspections at salvage yards, used auto dealerships, and repair shops. The NTATTF coverage area includes the counties of Dallas, Denton, Collin, Rockwall, and Kaufman, as well as the city of Corsicana.<\/p>\n<p>A 68A inspection is by appointment only and costs $40, cash only. Contact 214-653-3430 to schedule an appointment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallascounty.org\/departments\/dcsheriff\/?page_id=783\">North Texas Auto Theft Task Force (NTATTF)<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section class='av_toggle_section av-luvl2chn-4a89152731a8bfd3ebe318152da294bf'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div role=\"tablist\" class=\"single_toggle\" data-tags=\"{All} \"  ><p data-fake-id='#toggle-id-10' class='toggler   av-inherit-font-color hasCustomColor'  itemprop=\"headline\"  role='tab' tabindex='0' aria-controls='toggle-id-10'>Fugitive \/ Mental Health Unit<span class=\"toggle_icon\"><span class=\"vert_icon\"><\/span><span class=\"hor_icon\"><\/span><\/span><\/p><div id='toggle-id-10' class='toggle_wrap  '  ><div class='toggle_content invers-color av-inherit-font-color hasCustomColor'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>The Fugitive Section is responsible for several different processes that involve the transfer of fugitives and inmates to and from the Dallas County jail.\u00a0 This includes returning fugitives wanted by local law enforcement agencies within Dallas County who have fled to other jurisdictions or states.\u00a0 Deputies also transport inmates to and from State and Federal prison units across the state.\u00a0 The Fugitive Section includes a Mental Health Unit that serves subpoenas and transports inmates deemed mentally incompetent to various local and state mental institutions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallascounty.org\/departments\/dcsheriff\/?page_id=3234\">Fugitive \/ Mental Health Unit\\<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section class='av_toggle_section av-luvl4flj-ee68c09622af82d859cf412ce26c003e'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div role=\"tablist\" class=\"single_toggle\" data-tags=\"{All} \"  ><p data-fake-id='#toggle-id-11' class='toggler   av-inherit-font-color hasCustomColor'  itemprop=\"headline\"  role='tab' tabindex='0' aria-controls='toggle-id-11'>Civil Writ Section<span class=\"toggle_icon\"><span class=\"vert_icon\"><\/span><span class=\"hor_icon\"><\/span><\/span><\/p><div id='toggle-id-11' class='toggle_wrap  '  ><div class='toggle_content invers-color av-inherit-font-color hasCustomColor'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>The <strong>Writ Enforcement Section<\/strong> deputies serve the civil process and enforce executions on civil judgments.\u00a0 The section also conducts the Dallas County Sheriff\u2019s Official online Tax Sales and the Sheriff\u2019s Sale live auction as required by law.\u00a0 These sales are conducted on the first Tuesday of every month.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Dallas County Sheriff\u2019s Department live auction Writ Sheriff\u2019s Sale<\/strong>\u00a0is held at the Dallas County Records Building, 500 Elm Street, Dallas, Texas, on the 7<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0floor Multipurpose room, on the\u00a0<em>first Tuesday of every month.<\/em>\u00a0The Dallas County Sheriff\u2019s Office seized the properties by Writ of Execution. The winning bidder must have cash or cashier\u2019s check made out to the Dallas County Sheriff\u2019s Office and must provide a current bidder certificate to the deputy at the time of the sale. If payment is unavailable immediately, the property will be immediately resold. A deed fee of $30.00 will also be added to the final bid for processing the property\u2019s deed. All sales are final, so please do your research on the properties prior to bidding.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Dallas County Sheriff Official Sale is a public auction\u00a0<\/strong>in which property that has been placed under an Order of Sale is sold. The tax sale will be held online, through Real Auction, on the first Tuesday of every month beginning at 9 a.m. CST. Payments are received by wire transfer only.
