Dispute Resolution Center Advisory Board

Judge D’Metria Benson attended obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Texas Christian University and received her Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from The University of Texas School of Law. She has been licensed for 26 years and is a Master in the Mac Taylor Inn of Court. She is a member of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers Foundation and currently serves on the Dallas County Dispute Resolution Systems Board. Judge Benson is a past recipient of the DFW NELA Chapter Amicus Volunteer of the Year Award.

She was born into a family committed to public service. As the daughter of a career military serviceman and a school teacher she learned the values of hard work, dedication, and commitment to family, community and country. She began volunteering at an early age. When she was 13 she achieved the status of First Class Girl Scout which is the Girl Scout equivalent of an Eagle Scout. She was also a Red Cross Volunteer and active in various school organizations and student government. She continued her volunteer activities throughout college and is still an active community volunteer.

As an attorney she has served on several local and State Bar association boards and committees including having been a board member of the State Bar of Texas Women and the Law Section, and a past member of the National Employment Lawyers Association, Texas Employment Lawyers Association, and DFW Chapter-National Employment Lawyers Association where she served in various leadership capacities.

As a citizen of Dallas County she has been a sustaining member of the Junior League of Dallas and actively involved in the Arts Community having graduated from the Dallas Business Committee for the Arts Leadership Arts Training program and served on the boards of Voice of Change, the Dallas Wind Symphony and Theatre Three.

Judge Benson is involved in her church as a member of the vestry and sings in the choir. In her spare time she enjoys playing scrabble, travel, reading and most recently, making jewelry.
