Pre-Development Meetings

Pre-Development Meetings are a way to have an informal discussion about your project with Dallas County staff. We highly encourage these meetings as a way to understand what may be required by the County, State laws and applicable regulations. We encourage you to schedule a Pre-Development Meeting before undertaking a project to ask any questions you may have about your proposed project and understand what obstacles may need to be cleared.

The meeting is attended by a representative of the following County departments:

  • Planning and Development
  • Fire Marshal
  • Road and Bridge
  • Public Works
  • Health and Human Services

Pre-development meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, first come first serve. For your meeting, please come prepared with a concept plan and clear vision of what you would like to develop. This helps us to better understand your project and provide concrete answers. At the meeting we will help explore any pertinent standards or any constraints that may apply and explain the next steps in the development process.

If you would like to schedule a Pre-Development Meeting, please submit the following:

  1. Pre-Development Meeting Application
  2. A site plan/conceptual site plan and survey
  3. If you do not own the property but Interested in buying the property, we would need a notarized letter from the property owner stating we are allowed to discuss their property.
