The Benefits Section of the Human Resources Department and Risk Management handles the administration, implementation, communication, analysis, and day-to-day activities of the group health, life, dental and related benefits plans.
This is a brief overview of the benefits programs offered by Dallas County.
Vacation
Dallas County, full-time regular employees will initially accrue 3.077 hours of vacation leave per pay period, for a total of two (2) weeks per 12 months.
Sick
Dallas County, full-time regular employees will accrue 3.692 hours of sick leave per pay period, for a total of 96 hours per year.
Holidays
Dallas County full-time employees generally received ten paid holidays per calendar year.
Military Leave
Dallas County offers military leave to regular, full-time employee(s) who are members of a reserve unit of the armed forces, and who are called for temporary active duty, shall be granted up to fifteen (15) working days per federal fiscal year (October through September) without loss of salary or reduction in vacation or sick leave.

Employee Health Center
Dallas County offers an onsite health clinic for County employees to address injuries or illnesses during normal business hours.
Special Duty Pay
Dallas County offers Special Duty Pay to regular, full-time clerical personnel who work in a secured or detention facility, and have regular direct contact with confined individuals or provide a service to or for confined individuals in the regular course of a work day.
Deferred Compensation Plans
Supplemental retirement programs using money deferred from employee's current taxable income which won't be taxed until withdrawn from the plan(s). The 457 plan is offered through Nationwide Retirement Solutions. A variety of products are offered through this company.
Child Care Program
Dallas County offersa Child Care Program to make affordable quality day care services available to eligible full-time, regular County employees who work at its downtown facilities.
Credit Union
Dallas County employees are eligible to join Texans Credit Union. Texans Credit Union offers a savings plan with dividends paid quarterly. Texans Credit Union also offers loans at relatively low interest rates and payroll deductions are available for savings and payment of loans.
Retirement Program
Dallas County employees participate in the Texas County and District Retirement System. The program is mandatory for all full-time and some part-time employees of Dallas County. In the retirement plan, employees contribute 7% of their gross salary each pay period (pre-tax dollars which are matched by Dallas County). An employee becomes vested after 10 years of service. |
