The Special Hospital Observation Team (SHOT) is assigned to the Gill Hernandez Medical Facility Captain. The officers assigned to this detail are responsible for the security of all hospitalized prisoners from the Dallas County Jail system. At the request of a Medical Provider, an inmate is sent by ambulance or Transfer vehicle to Parkland Hospital. The Outside Medical Escort Officers accompany the inmate to Parkland Hospital. This officer remains with the inmate until relief is obtained. The Outside Medical Escort Officer must adhere to Detentions Bureau Policy and Procedures.
