Message from Marian Brown, Dallas County Sheriff
Greetings,
I am so proud to serve as your Dallas County Sheriff.
I bring thirty-six years of law enforcement knowledge and experience, thirty-two of which have been spent in various levels of police leadership: from the sergeant on the street to the lieutenant over the watch, the community relations officer at the crime watch meeting, the investigations commander at the crime scene, and the assistant chief developing the annual budget.
I grew up in Dallas County and was educated in Dallas Public Schools. I have a personal interest in Dallas County and the things that affect our community. I am grateful to have the chance to serve in a leadership role in the place where I grew up as someone who was not as fortunate as others, but also in a place where, as an adult, I’m able to understand the desires and the needs of families who have broken cycles and desire to thrive.
I look forward to continuing my service to the citizens of Dallas County.
Marian Brown
Dallas County Sheriff
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department:
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department is the county’s chief law enforcement agency. Established on March 30, 1846, we operate the ninth-largest jail in the United States, with an average jail population of over 6,000 inmates. Unlike municipal law enforcement agencies, sheriff deputies have jurisdiction in all areas of the county, including the other 32 cities.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department consists of approximately 2100 men and women drawn from all corners of the community, coming together as a team, working both daylight and dark of night, all seasons and weather extremes, facing challenges, owning responsibility, and together delivering results.
I am excited as we move the Department forward to promote the values by which we operate, which allow us to be effective stewards of your trust.
We believe in . . . INTEGRITY…out loud
PROFESSIONALISM…out front
and ACCOUNTABILITY…in ALL
Thank you for your interest in the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, the county’s premier law enforcement agency.
Sheriff Marian Brown
