Message from Marian Brown, Dallas County Sheriff
Greetings,
I am honored to serve as your Dallas County Sheriff.
I bring to bear thirty years of law enforcement knowledge and experience. Twenty-five of those years have been spent in various levels of police leadership: from the sergeant on the street; to the lieutenant over the watch; to the community relations officer at the crime watch meeting; to the investigations commander on the crime scene, to the assistant chief preparing the annual budget.
I grew up in Dallas County, and was educated in Dallas Public Schools. I have a personal interest in Dallas County and the things that affect our community. I am grateful to have the chance to serve in a leadership role in the place where I grew up as someone who was not as fortunate as others; but also in a place where, as an adult, I’m able to understand the desires and the needs of families who have broken cycles and desire to enjoy lives.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department is a model agency in many ways. We have approximately twenty-one hundred men and women who strive each day to better serve the citizens of Dallas County in all that we do.
I am excited as we move the Department forward to hail the values that we have charged ourselves with. That being:
INTEGRITY…out loud
PROFESSIONALISM…out front
and ACCOUNTABILITY…in ALL
Thank you for your interest in The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department; THE premier law enforcement agency in Dallas County.
Marian Brown
Dallas County Sheriff

Unlike municipal law enforcement agencies, sheriff deputies have jurisdiction in all areas of the county, including the other 32 cities in the county.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department is to provide the citizens of Dallas County with quality law enforcement services. Sheriff’s Department employees will be fair, respectful and unbiased to all citizens. The employees will act with professionalism and integrity in all law enforcement activities and treat inmates with dignity.
