Communication Technician

The hiring of Communication Technicians occurs as needed by the department. Communication Technicians monitor Dallas County’s Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, radio communication frequencies as well as security and fire alarms. They dispatch appropriate support and provide necessary information to assist during routine and emergency operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • One (1) year clerical/administrative work-related experience, or
  • 15 hours of college or a combination of the two; or
  • Six (6) months’ work experience as a telecommunicator/911 operator
  • Ability to type 35 wpm.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.

  • Psychological Evaluation
  • Physical Examination
  • Drug Screening
