We do not accept Debit or Credit Cards to post cash bonds. We accept cash, cashier’s check, or money order made payable to the Dallas County Sheriff.

Note: For cash bonds paid by cashier’s checks or money orders, only cashier’s checks and money orders issued by a local bank or financial institution in the DFW area will be accepted with proof of purchase that is to be shown to the bond unit clerk at the time of posting a cash bond.

This is a reminder that in accordance with Senate Bill 6 (87th Legislative Session), charitable bail organizations are required to submit a monthly report to the Sheriff of each county where the organization paid a bail bond for a defendant. This report must be submitted by the 10th of each month.

Please note that any charitable bail organization operating in Dallas County should be registered with the Dallas County Clerk. The clerk will issue a certificate to the organization authorizing them to pay bail bonds in the county.

Pursuant to CCP 17.071, a Charitable Bail Organization can post a bond with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office but will be required to comply with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office guidelines.

A Charitable Bail Organization can post a bond using an authorized person. An authorized person is a person listed on the affidavit filed with the Dallas County Clerk pursuant to CCP 17.071(e).  If an authorized person desires to post a bond on behalf of a Charitable Bail Organization they will need to provide the Sheriff’s Office with identification.

 

If the person attempting to submit the bail on behalf of the Charitable Bail Organization is not listed on the Charitable Bail Organization affidavit filed with the Dallas County Clerk, they will not be authorized to post a bond with the Dallas County Sheriff.

    1. Pursuant to CCP 17.071(f) the report must include the following information each Defendant for whom the organization has paid a bond in the preceding calendar month along with the following information:
  1. Name of Defendant
  2. Cause Number of the case
  • County in which the applicable charge is pending (if different from the county in which the bond was paid)
  1. Any dates on which the Defendant has failed to appear in court as required for the charge for which the bond was paid.

  1. Failure to Comply Notice:

If the Charitable Bail Organization fails to comply with the requirements of CCP 17.071(f) by failing to provide the required reports, the Sheriff’s Office may exercise its authority to suspend the ability of the Charitable Bail Organization to post bonds pursuant to CCP 17.071(h).

  1. Refunds are not processed or handled by the Sheriff’s Office. Any refund matters will be under the scope of the County Clerk/ District Clerk.
