Constable Hammond PortraitConstable Deanna Hammond was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. She graduated from Parkview Magnet School in 1984 and relocated to Texas that same year. Deanna holds a Bachelor of Science, with concentration in Management from DeVry University and a Master of Arts, with a dual concentration in Organizational Management and Conflict Resolution from Dallas Baptist University. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in General Psychology with emphasis in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Grand Canyon University.

Deanna Hammond has a very diverse background. She began her career in Accounting in Houston, Texas. In 1998, she relocated to Dallas, Texas where she worked as a Substitute Teacher with the Dallas Independent School District. After graduating from college in 2003, she immediately began her law enforcement career with the City of Dallas Police Department, working in the traffic/patrol division. After serving with the City of Dallas, Deanna changed her career to work as a school counselor for Texans Can! Academies, a network of schools for at-risk youth. Although she worked full time as a counselor, Deanna maintained her peace officer commission and reserved at local police departments before being called back to law enforcement full time.

Deanna received a federal commission as a federal Police Officer with the Department of Veteran Affairs. After serving with the Department of Veteran Affairs, she started her journey as a Deputy Constable with the Tarrant County Constable’s office where she served civil processes and warrants, investigated criminal law violations and filed cases with the Justice Court and District Attorney. She was also the training coordinator for the department. Her most recent position was Deputy Constable with Smith County Constable's Office.

Deanna is a Licensed Court-Appointed Mediator. She holds a Master Peace Officer and Instructor Certification from Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). She is also a Field Training Officer, certified through TCOLE, along with a Training Instructor Certification from Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). 

Deanna is a member of Justices of the Peace and Constables Association (JPCA), National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice, along with many other professional organizations. She is a faithful member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and the proud parent of two successful young men, Torrance and Cedric.
