Judge Mary Brown is the presiding judge of the 301st Judicial District Court of Dallas County, Texas. She was elected in November, 2014. Judge Brown received her Bachelors of Business Administration in 1982 from the University of Texas and received her law degree from the University of Houston in 1986.

Judge Brown began her law career as a Briefing Attorney for the Court of Criminal Appeals in 1987. In 1988 she moved to private practice and focused on the areas of family law and business law. In 1989 she added real estate and family law in the Greater Los Angeles and Orange County areas of California to her practice. In 1990 Judge Brown joined the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office. As the Chief of the Misdemeanor Section she tried over 20 criminal jury trials. She then moved to the Child Protective Services Section and tried numerous civil jury trials.

In 1996, Judge Brown was appointed as an Associate Judge of the Dallas County Family Courts where she served under Judge Dee Miller of the 254th District Court, Judge Jeff Coen of the 254th District Court, Judge Beth Maultsby of the 303rd District Court, and Judge Dennise Garcia of the 303rd District Court. Judge Brown remained an Associate Judge until her successful run for the bench of the 301st Judicial District Court in 2014.

Judge Brown has served on the Crime Victims Committee of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Family Law Section Board of Directors. She is a member of the College of the State Bar, the Junior League of Dallas and the Oak Cliff Lions Club. Judge Brown is also a proud graduate of Bishop Dunne High School, and mother of three children.
