A public defender is a licensed attorney who works full-time for the Public Defender’s Office, representing people who can’t afford a private lawyer.
All public defenders are court-appointed, but not all court-appointed attorneys are public defenders. Sometimes the courts appoint a private lawyer, usually because of a conflict.

Yes! We’re licensed, highly trained attorneys — many educated at top law schools such as Harvard, SMU, UT Austin, and HBCUs. We have extensive experience handling criminal cases and work hard every day to protect our clients’ rights.
We handle adult and juvenile criminal cases — from misdemeanors to serious felonies. We also handle a few civil matters related to family law, child support, and civil commitment.
Call, email, or contact our office. We’re often in court, but we’ll respond as soon as possible.
Be open and honest — everything you share is confidential and helps us build your defense.
