DALLAS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE.

THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 22.02 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $29.08.

Current Role & Responsibilities:

Chris Young is the Chief Attorney for the Actual Innocence Exoneration Division (AIEU) of the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office. The AIEU is responsible for investigating and litigating post-conviction claims of wrongful convictions, including actual innocence claims, as well as post-conviction motions for DNA testing that are submitted to the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office. Mr. Young received his B.A. in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000 and his law degree from Texas Tech School of Law in 2004. Over the past 10 years, Chris has led the AIEU team and has enjoyed the privilege of working on several of the exonerations that were successfully litigated by the AIEU. Mr. Young also served as the Adjunct Clinical Professor of Law for the SMU Dedman School of Law Innocence Clinic from 2016-2026.Mr. Young is passionate about public service and is committed to leading the AIEU team with integrity, hard work and dedication.
