In his role, he works to ensure that the people and systems behind the scenes are equipped to support the office's commitment to expanding access to justice for indigent individuals throughout Dallas County.
The Human Resources Division provides a wide range of services that keep the office running effectively and efficiently. These responsibilities include human resources, recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, procurement, budget coordination, information technology support, facilities management, records administration, and general office operations.
The division also serves as the first point of contact for clients, visitors, court personnel, and community partners and is responsible for maintaining the office's records systems. Although much of its work occurs behind the scenes, the Human Resources Division serves as the operational foundation of the office.

Values & Motivation
Jonathan believes that justice is a team effort. While public defenders advocate for their clients in the courtroom, he takes pride in creating the support systems that make that advocacy possible. What he values most in his work is helping people succeed. Whether he is guiding an employee, solving a problem, or helping someone navigate a challenge, he believes that investing in people is one of the most meaningful ways to make a difference.
He chose a career in public service because he has always believed that even the smallest acts of service can have a lasting impact. The work that happens behind the scenes may not always be visible, but it matters. Every obstacle removed, every process improved, and every employee supported creates a ripple effect that ultimately reaches the people and communities the office serves.
His approach to leadership is simple: lead with service, listen often, and never underestimate the power of kindness. When people feel valued, supported, and empowered, they can bring their best selves to their work. In public defense, that means better advocacy, stronger teams, and greater opportunities to change lives.
At the Dallas County Public Defender's Office, Jonathan is inspired every day by the dedication and heart of his colleagues. He is proud to be part of an organization that believes every person deserves dignity, exceptional representation, and the chance to be defined by their potential rather than their past. He firmly believes that justice is not built in a single moment or by a single person. It is built every day through acts of service, collaboration, and a shared commitment to lifting one another up so that together, we can better serve those who need us most.
