DALLAS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE.

THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 22.02 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $29.08.

Timothy J. Hicks was appointed as the Dallas County Auditor in May 2024. Mr. Hicks has over 25 years of accounting, auditing, consulting, and finance experience in both the private and public sectors. He has a wealth of municipal finance experience having worked for the State of Illinois as Deputy Chief Financial Officer for the Illinois Housing Development Authority, Cook County as the Comptroller for the Forest Preserve District, and the City of Chicago as the Assistant City Treasurer.

Mr. Hicks received his Master of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing from the University of Illinois, Chicago and his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Alabama State University, graduating with honors. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
