In 2003, Dallas County created its Truancy Courts consistent with Section 2, Chapter 54, Sub-chapter V of the Texas Government Code. Judge Jenkins appoints five-full time judges to conduct hearings and makes findings of facts and conclusions of law in matters alleging violations of the Failure to Attend School and Parent Contributing to Non-Attendance policies for Dallas, Garland, Highland Park, Mesquite, Richardson independent school districts and a few charter schools. The Truancy Courts also employ a Program Coordinator and Juvenile Case Managers who also report directly to the County Judge.
