Judge Valencia Nash Judge Valencia Nash was sworn into office January 1, 2007. She is committed to serving the southern part of Dallas County which includes South Dallas, Oak Cliff, Lancaster, Wilmer, Hutchins, DeSoto, Glenn Heights and Duncanville.

Judge Nash was born and raised in Dallas. She graduated from Wilmer-Hutchins High School. She attended the University of Houston and received a Bachelor of Science Degree. She received her Juris Doctorate Degree from Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.

Judge Nash is licensed and has practiced law in Florida, Georgia, and Texas. She has practiced in the areas of environmental law and justice, family law, juvenile law, landlord-tenant law, construction law and general litigation. 

Judge Nash was appointed by the Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice to the Texas Judicial Council (TJC) in 2008. The Texas Judicial Council is the policymaking body for the judiciary.  She has been reappointed by two Chief Justices for an additional 6 terms.  She has chaired the Juvenile Justice Committee and been a part of the Civil Committee and Public Trust and Confidence of TJC.

Judge Nash also teaches various classes to Justices of the Peace throughout Texas through the Texas Justice Court Training Center. She is an advisory member of the Southeast Oak Cliff Communities Board, Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center Board and the Thurgood Marshall Alumni Board. She is a member of the Lancaster Lions Club and Texas Southern University National Alumni Association. She is also a lifetime member of both the, NAACP and the University of Houston Alumni Association.

She has received numerous awards including Women of Wisdom Award and the University of Houston Black Alumni Award for Extraordinary Accomplishments, Urban League of Greater Dallas Torch Award, TSU Dallas Alumni Attorney of the Year, and Dispute Mediation Services Award for Excellence.
