The 2.6-mile Owens Trail is one of the oldest trails in the City of Richardson. Utilizing park property, Oncor right-of-way, and an on-street connection, this trail fulfills an important role in the City's comprehensive trail system as it facilitates connections with the Spring Creek Trail (which connects with both the Central Trail and the Rennner Road Trail and the Duck Creek Trail (which connects with the Glenville Trail).

In so doing, it enables one to travel from the City's western boundary to its eastern boundary without the need of a car.
