The Public Health Advisory Committee (PHAC) serves as an advisory board on public health issues being faced here in Dallas County. Meetings are held quarterly from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in room 627A of the DCHHS main building on N Stemmons Frwy. The committee is tasked with prioritizing various health issues county residents face at any given time. PHAC is also charged with coordinating efforts of all participating entities that seek to improve the health of county citizens. Various DCHHS programs are invited to present at committee meetings to discuss they ability to curb public health crises and where there is room for growth within the program. The group reviews topics such as:
- Environmental health
- Preventative health
- Communicable disease
- Public health preparedness
- Legislative issues
- Current threats to county residents’ health
The committee is co-chaired by Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price and Dr. Philip Huang, DCHHS Director, and is comprised of community members and representatives from health organizations within the County. For a schedule of upcoming meetings and minutes from past meetings, click here.
