Within unincorporated areas of Dallas County, construction and land development occurs through the permitting and/or inspections process per County and State regulations and described as the Permit Review Process. This process, managed by the Department of Unincorporated Area Services, occurs in partnership with Dallas County Fire Marshal’s Office and involves other departments including Health and Human Services, various Road and Bridge Districts and Public Works. The Permit Review Process includes:
- Addressing & Street Naming
- Building & Development Permits & Process

- Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction Agreements
- Floodplain Management
- Inter-departmental Coordination
