The 3.5-mile UTD/University Trail reaches Richardson's western boundary, provides direct access to the University of Texas at Dallas, and connects with the 1.9-mile Renner Trail that provides access to the Telecom Corridor and a DART station.

It is also about one-half mile east of the Preston Ridge Trail which allows people to travel from far north Dallas to downtown without the need of a car.

The University of Texas at Dallas graciously provided the land for most of the UTD/University Trail.
