The Dallas County Public Defender’s Office investigators support attorneys by gathering and analyzing crucial data for complex cases. They review evidence, assist in plea negotiations, reconstruct events, interview witnesses, and prepare physical evidence for trial. Investigators also conduct background checks, serve subpoenas, and review various reports, including forensic and medical records. They assist during jury selection and trials, and some are assigned to specialized units like Capital Division, Mental Health, Veterans, and Child Protection.
