Court Assignment Overview

Overview

The Dallas County Public Defender's Office is a centralized defense service in a single office. The office is comprised of felony, misdemeanor, juvenile, child protection, family, mental health, bond, actual innocence, appellate and capital murder defense attorneys.  In all cases, the individuals represented by our office have been found indigent by the courts and have requested an attorney to represent them in their pending case(s). Indigent clients who are not assigned to the Public Defender's Office are assigned to private attorneys who are paid by the County and assigned by the Court to represent them in their pending case(s).

Private attorneys are in not affiliated or answerable to this office.  We do NOT maintain or keep contact information of individuals in the private sector.  Contact information for a private attorney must be obtained from the assigning court.

In this segment, you will find the necessary contact information to the respective courts in the Frank Crowley Courts Building, the Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center, the George Allen Courts Building and the Dallas County Mental Health Court. Both the clerk and coordinator will be able to assist you in determining who has been appointed to represent you in your case
