Partnership Overview

The Dallas County Public Defender’s Office is the second oldest Public Defender’s Office in the State of Texas and the first of its kind. The Office is the largest Public Defender’s Office in the State of Texas and has been recognized as a model for new Public Defender Offices throughout the State including the newly created Harris County Public Defender’s Office.

The Office takes a holistic approach to criminal defense in order to benefit society and its clients. By partnering with both public and private high schools, various law firms and institutions of higher education, the Public Defender’s Office is able to combat the stigma associated with indigent defense attorneys, solidify the concept of innocent until proven guilty and attract committed individuals to the profession of criminal defense.
