Employment Background Verification

We are pleased to announce that The Work Number is now fully functional for employment verification.
You no longer need to submit a ticket to the Audit.servicedesk@dallascounty.org. Instead, individuals or organizations requesting proof of employment can follow the process outlined below.
Need Proof of Employment or Income?
Provide the verifier with the following information:
- Your Social Security Number
- County of Dallas Employer Code: 15311

Need to Create a Salary Key?
A salary key is one form of employee authorization used to release income. If an employer or organization requires access to your salary information, follow these steps to generate a Salary Key:
- Visit www.theworknumber.com.
- Click "Manage My Employment Data" (top right corner).
- Select "Get A Salary Key."
- Click "Log In."
- Enter Employer Code (15311) and search.
- Select Dallas County and click "Select Employer."
- Click "Register Now!" to create an account.
- Follow the steps to complete registration.
- Once your account is set up, select "Grant Access to Salary Info."
- Click "Generate a Salary Key" and write down the six-digit number.
Provide the verifier with the following information:
- Your Social Security Number
- County of Dallas Employer Code: 15311
- Your Salary Key

Verification of Employment Eligibility
Dallas County employs only U.S. citizens and lawfully authorized non-U.S. citizens. All new employees must show employment eligibility verification and complete Form I-9, as required by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Authenticity of all employment documentation will be verified. Providing false or inaccurate information or documentation will result in your disqualification from consideration for the position.
The purpose of the hiring policy is to ensure that hiring departments utilize sound, consistent and effective personnel selection methods to identify the best suited applicants to fill vacant positions in the county.
Candidates who have immediate family members working for the county will not be able to work in the same department as the family member.
A pre-employment physical exam is required of all new and former employees, at the county’s expense. Any offer of employment is contingent on the candidate passing the physical exam.
Every male between 18 and 26 years old, seeking employment with the county, must verify his registration or exemption from registration with the Federal Selective Service System.
