Judge SeiderJudge Steven Seider has been re-elected for successive terms as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3 since appointment to the bench in 1999.

A licensed Texas attorney since 1991, Judge Seider earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (with honors) from the University of Texas at Arlington before obtaining a Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston.  Experience as a Judge, as a Prosecutor in the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and as an attorney in private practice, provide Judge Seider the legal background expected by litigants and attorneys practicing in a Justice Court in Dallas County.

Judge Seider offers his extensive legal, business and technology background to improve the local judiciary and county government.  Hosting training sessions in conjunction with fellow judges, serving as a member of the Criminal Justice Advisory Board and the Dallas County Bail Bond Board, as well as vetting potential software and hardware applications for the Justice Courts are but a few of the additional duties taken on as a leader in the judiciary.

Judge Seider has served as a member of the Texas Judicial Ethics Commission, assisting in the drafting of judicial ethics opinions for publication to the Texas judiciary; he has served as a Mentor Judge, providing additional education for fellow-judges as ordered by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct.

Judge Seider was appointed by the Supreme Court of Texas to a six-year term as a member of the State Commission on Judicial Conduct in February 2010.

Efficiency and customer service reflect Judge Seider’s strong belief in treating others, as he would like to be treated — balancing justice and mercy without sacrificing dignity, respect or the rule of law.
